Are you allowed to park with the federal mobility budget?
The federal mobility budget is renowned for its wide range of sustainable alternatives. Combining these different transport options offers enormous flexibility.
But can you also use it for parking costs when parking your car at the train station? Can you use the mobility budget when parking your bike at a paid parking spot? You’ll find the answer here.
Parking is allowed, but…
These are the rules for the car
If you park your car and wish to pay for the session with your mobility budget, one rule applies: The parking cost must be related to a trip by public transport. For instance, if you park at the train station as part of your commute, you can pay the parking cost with your mobility budget.
Parking subscriptions follow the same reasoning. If you have a subscription to park in a B-Parking every morning and then take the train to work, you can pay for this subscription with your mobility budget.
These are the rules for soft mobility
Sometimes, you might have to pay for a parking spot for your bike, moped or electric motorbike. Luckily, for all forms of soft mobility, every parking cost can be paid for with your mobility budget.
This applies to any parking cost, regardless of its connection to public transport. For instance, this might come in handy for people who regularly pay for a bike parking spot because they lack a safe shed at home.
Additionally, you are free to park in public or private parking areas. Parking spaces can be covered. The mobility budget once again proves its flexibility.
Use the Olympus app to park with your mobility budget
Parking with the Olympus app and mobility budget is easy. To pay your parking cost with your mobility budget, keep this information in mind:
- When parking your car, the parking cost must be related to a public transport journey.
- When using soft mobility, like your bike, you can park wherever and whenever you wish, regardless of its connection to public transport.
When parking at B-Parking, simply place the MoBIB card on the parking pillar when entering and exiting. The parking session is automatically processed in the Olympus app on your mobility budget. You don’t need to pay yourself and always benefit from the advantageous train traveller rate.
If parking elsewhere, easily request a refund through the Olympus app after your session. Olympus Mobility then checks your refund request. In cases where you park a car, we consider:
- The validity of the submitted documents (parking ticket, transport ticket, and proof of payment).
- Whether the parking is within a 500-metre radius of the public transport departure or arrival point.
- Whether both tickets were purchased on the same date.
This procedure also applies when purchasing a parking subscription for your car and combining it with public transport. Upon approval, the amount is deducted from your budget in the Olympus app and reimbursed to your bank account.
