Many SMEs and self-employed struggle with the administration of their professional journeys. This was revealed in a study by Olympus Mobility, the Belgian platform for efficient mobility management.

To tackle this problem, Olympus Mobility is now expanding its services with the first and only all-in-one mobility app that promises freelancers and business owners significant time and cost savings.

This allows them to focus on what truly matters: their business.

Three in ten self-employed use multiple modes of transport

In 2022, Belgium had no less than 1,141,700 SMEs and 795,282 full-time self-employed professionals. Olympus Mobility conducted research to understand how these groups manage their mobility.

  • First, it appears that 30% of self-employed professionals are multimodal: they use different modes of transport, often within the same trip. For example, they might travel from point A to point B by train and cover the last few kilometers using a shared bike.
  • Additionally, 29% of self-employed professionals handle their own mobility administration.
  • For tax optimization, many rely on accountants.
  • SMEs also use accountants for tax optimization, while primarily outsourcing administrative tasks to social secretariats.

However, both groups encounter obstacles, such as unclear VAT rates when processing public transport costs and errors like forgotten mileage registration. The result? Time-consuming processes require customized solutions for each situation. A shame, as time is money.

Olympus Mobility simplifies mobility administration

No surprise, then, that 89% of the 200 surveyed self-employed professionals and business owners express interest in a mobility app to make things easier.

With the Olympus app, professionals can:

  • Purchase tickets from 35 different mobility providers,
  • Manage budgets for business travel,
  • Add employees, and
  • Track and pay invoices.

At the end of the month, the Olympus app automatically compiles all mobility expenses into a single, easy-to-read invoice. This allows freelancers and business owners to focus on their core business while sparing accountants from processing a flood of receipts.

In addition to saving time, freelancers and business owners can:

  • Recover VAT at the correct rate more effectively,
  • Avoid the need for separate subscriptions (e.g., with De Lijn, NMBS, cambio, Blue-bike…), and
  • Save on mobility costs, even with just one trip per month.

In summary, Olympus Mobility promises freelancers and SMEs significant savings in costs, errors, and time. It stands alone in the Belgian market, as there is currently no other app that combines all transport options and administrative processes into one solution.

Practical Details

Olympus Mobility, the all-in-one mobility app that simplifies mobility management, is now available. Self-employed professionals and business owners can try the app free for two months. Afterward, the subscription costs €4.5 per month per user (excluding VAT, billed annually).

Part of the Olympus Mobility Platform

With this offer, Olympus Mobility expands its platform’s capabilities. In addition to an integration with the KBC app, the platform is used by companies to manage legal mobility budgets, commuting, business trips, bike leasing, and mobility within cafeteria plans. Now, it also offers a solution for freelancers and business owners. Together, the platform supports approximately 900,000 users.
