Here’s how

Your federal mobility budget is more than just an alternative to your company car. You can also use it for your personal adventures. Yes, even on holiday. This summer, make the most of your budget. Will it be the train, a taxi, or simply your own 'hotel'? We've lined up the options for you.

Take the train to your favourite country

Why start your holiday with a stressed-out driver when you could be watching green hills roll by instead? International train journeys are a top pick for using your mobility budget. Enjoy the varied landscapes between Oslo and Bergen, for instance, or hop on a train to Paris. Any journey within the European Economic Area (EEA) is allowed.

The EEA, by the way, consists of the 27 EU member states, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Within this zone, you can buy train tickets for your whole family. Everyone benefits from your mobility budget.

Take a taxi to festivals

Yes, you can book a taxi with your mobility budget too. From the airport to your hotel, or safely home after a festival: as long as your destination is within the EEA, a taxi is ready for you. The Olympus app features providers like Uber, as well as private drivers from Troom and Get Driven.

Here too, you can use your mobility budget for your family. Simply create an account for them in the Olympus app. That way, they can use (part of) your budget for their own journeys.

Stay cosy at home

There's no place like home. Your mobility budget can just as easily cover your rent or mortgage. If you live within 10 kilometres of work, or work from home at least 50% of the time, you can check into "Hotel Home Sweet Home" this summer. And you'll keep enjoying this investment in yourself long after summer ends. You decide what your mobility budget is used for.

Incidentally, the National Labour Council and the Central Economic Council recommend, as part of the new legislation on the mobility budget, capping housing costs at a maximum of 50% of your budget. This rule would apply to employees joining the scheme after the upcoming legal change. At the time of publication, however, no concrete date has been set.

In the meantime, you can easily request reimbursement for your rent or mortgage via the Olympus app. The amount is settled at the start of the month and paid straight into your account. Simple!

Be a tourist in your own city

Time to make the most of summer close to home. Wander through cool museums, hop on a shared bike to the park, or explore hidden gems on a shared scooter. Your nearest city offers plenty to discover.
