We asked Fleet Owner of the Year Vicky De Bollen, Director of Finance, Facility & Legal at Sweco Belgium, how she managed to achieve this.

“First and foremost, we are limiting the number of journeys by paying more attention to teleworking and Skype meetings, among other things. If a journey is unavoidable, there are several options. Sometimes the car is a logical choice, but sustainable means of transport also often provide a suitable solution. After all, our Sweco offices are located close to multimodal junctions and train stations.
We opted for Mobility-as-a-Service, or MaaS, to give employees an extra incentive. More concretely, it means that they literally have all the sustainable options in their pocket through a handy app. The flexibility is particularly appreciated. Do you have to be somewhere soon? While you are walking to the station, for example, you can buy the tickets you need for your route.”

“It’s important to know that the Olympus app does not replace the company car. On the contrary, our employees have it in addition to their car. That seems to be a good formula. Up to now, 219 colleagues have already signed up for the mobility app, and we receive new applications every week. Incidentally, there are no additional costs involved for us, because we recover the sustainable mobility fees with lower fuel expenses.
